I love how Alice Oseman’s work has representation across the asexual spectrum. So often asexual is conflated with aromantic, and people think that all asexuals are aroaces. But that’s just not the case. There are so many different ways to be ace or aro, and you can be one and not the other. As someone who is alloromantic, but maybe grey-ace or demi, and often has people assume that I have no interest in relationships, or be confused about my having a romantic partner, it’s so refreshing. Characters like Tori and Aled resonate so much—the uncertainty of how to define your attractions, the feeling that you don’t feel things quite like other people, suddenly feeling something you didn’t think you could feel, but only for one or a few people…And that we get demisexuals and complete aroaces like Georgia and Isaac? At the same time? Amazing, iconic, showstopping.
